noise as the suit inflates.
Pointing at the smaller airlock you both 
head over to it. Kiran steps in front of you, 
and presses release on the keypad. You both 
scream in surprise as a crew member lurches out 
of the airlock. She raises her fist in the air, and you 
see that she’s holding a screwdriver, aiming a swing 
right for you. You grunt as Kiran pushes you down 
do the ground. 
“Kamari, get out!” Kiran shouts.
You want to help, to save your friend and be the 
hero. But you can’t move. Your heart is pounding 
in your ears, and you are frozen on the floor. Finally 
you manage to say “No, let me help…” but Kiran 
replies, “You have to let me deal with him. That 
screwdriver goes into your suit, and we are done!”
You can’t help feeling relief that there is an excuse 
for you not to fight but the crew member comes 
at you again and you close your eyes expecting a 
blow. You hear a cry from Kiran and open your eyes 
to see them struggling to push the crew member 
The suit is like a giant onesie with a backpack. You 
lay it out on the floor and climb through the chest, 
sitting on the ground as you push your feet to the 
end of the legs and into the connected boots.
“Let me help you,” says Kiran. They pull you up as 
you hold the suit around your waist. Kiran hikes 
the suit up as you get your arms in, before carefully 
sealing the front. 
“How does that feel?” they ask.
“Like I’m wearing a sleeping bag,” you moan. You 
flex your hands inside the built in gloves and notice 
how much harder it is to move them.
“Grab me one of those, will you?” you say, pointing 
at a row of helmets.
You pull it over your head, locking it in place with 
several snap clips.
“Well, that took longer than expected,” Kiran 
huffed, their voice muffled through the helmet. 
You press a button on a small control pad on your 
arm, just like Maggie told you, and hear a whirring
