80 81 laboratory. You get there and are relieved to find that there are no crew inside. You lock the door behind you and sit down on a stool, with your phone propped up on the lab bench. The captain looks serious. “Now, Chen. Let me go over the situation again. We’ve found out the unidentified spacecraft above the moonbase is sending out a signal that is messing with the internet chips in the crews’ heads. That’s why they can’t talk or do anything. The other problem is, they’re getting hotter and hotter so they’ll be dead in about ten minutes.” You may be scared of the crew right now, but you knew them first as friendly, real people. The engineers and mission control have come up with this stupid scheme to try and jam the signal from the spacecraft. We squirt out lots of radio noise and then the head chips won’t be able to hear it anymore and the “Where’s number fourteen?” “In the other corner to your right,” says the captain. “Why is it over there? Frankie is over that side of the room now.” “Come on. You can do it.” Again, you feel braver at Captain Adebeyo’s confidence in you. You sneak over to the server and crouch down to switch it off. As the noise dies away, you think I did it! and stand up. As you turn to the door, Frankie is standing right in front of you. You feel panic and almost run but the way he is staring stops you. It is like he hasn’t seen you. He is looking straight through you. You back away slowly and go round the corner. Walking calmly, you reach the door and close it behind you. “Well done, Chen!” says Captain Adebeyo. “You happy to keep working with me?” You stand a bit taller and reply that you’re happy to keep everyone safe. Captain Adebeyo gives you directions to go to the sample return
