“That’s good leadership, Sasha. And it’s actually
Devon I was going to ask you to connect up to
next. We’re concerned that we can’t get through
to the lunar space station. It’s round the far side of
the Moon at the moment, so we have to bounce
our signal through your base. We think there’s
a problem with your equipment and I have an
engineer who can guide Devon through checking
it.”
“Ok, I’ll get hold of them… Devon, are you there?
Are you ok?”
She’s relieved and smiles as Devon jokes, “Yeah,
I am. I mean, I am locked in an engineering
workshop with a zombie outside, but I‘m ok. What
is going on?”
Sasha explains the situation and connects the
engineer. Then Josef cuts back in again. “Ok,
there’s been some developments while you were
handling that. The astronomer says that the orbiter
is a spacecraft of unknown origin. It could even be
extra-terrestrial.”
unwrap a chocolate bar out of the locker, and give
it to her?”
Sasha grabs one. It’s an M&S Big Daddy.
Unexpected, but she guesses that Hopper brought
it as a personal item. She passes it to Hopper who
takes it tentatively, sniffs it, then grins and starts
to eat. Sasha relaxes and says to Josef, “Ok, that
worked.”
“Good. Now I have some news. We’ve detected an
object in orbit around the Moon that we haven’t
seen before. It’s over your heads right now. It’s too
small for us to get a good look at from here so we
need to use the telescopes where you are. Kiran
is in the astronomy lab, right? We have an expert
here.”
Josef talks her through how to connect and a
moment and in a few minutes she has put an
astronomer through to Kiran, and a doctor in touch
with Skylar.
“Listen Josef. I’m worried about Devon. They saw
something nasty; I’m going to check in on them.”
